The IP Revolution Starts Here

In the corporate world, where change is fast and furious, new technologies are the source of competitive advantage. Yet, while technology is moving ever quicker, the business models for bringing early stage technologies to the marketplace have not kept pace. No wonder fewer than 1 in 10 patents is ever commercialized.

There is a better way. One of our important discoveries is the start of a revolution:  Forming a startup company is not the only way to exploit the many inventions produced by our nation's inventors and research universities! 

Of the 20,000 or so inventions produced each year by research universities, only (at most) 10% are even candidates for VC investment.

The other 90% are candidates for investment by IP2Biz.  These 18,000 technologies each year aren't candidates for stand-alone innovation (startup incubators, entrepreneurs and VCs.)  However, the 90% are potentially important technologies to enhance, extend, improve and refine your company's product portfolio.  Other than IP2Biz, there are few formalized ways to shepherd these exciting but not startup worthy technologies along the path to commercialization.

IP2Biz is part of a group of innovators called Innovation Capitalists (ICs.)  Venture Capitalists bring expertise, process and capital to those technologies that are start-up worthy.  Similarly, ICs bring expertise, process and capital to all the rest.  While the similarities are many, ICs have different processes, invest far less money for each technology and receive far smaller payouts than the typical VC 50x payback. 

So what does this mean to you, the corporate executive worried about how to keep up with your competitors?  It means that you can find and evaluate technologies that support your list of projects with low risk, low cost, little time impact on your staff and no capital expenditure until you've seen the potential of the technology demonstrated.
